Cross Cultural Understanding



     Cross culture Understanding is an understanding or material taught in English courses where this CCU we can learn an understanding of cultural differences, the contents of which are an introduction to foreign cultures in life or study about customs between countries with the aim of getting an understanding over cultural differences

     The Cross Culture Understanding course also gives an idea to all of us that differences are very beautiful if we are able to tolerate each other and love and love each other and are also able to provide an overview of how we can respond to differences in cultural matters.

✓ The Importance of Understanding CCU Subjects:

     Namely so that we can avoid misunderstandings about culture, where we know that the aim of the Cross Culture Understanding (CCU) course intends to introduce students to the concept of culture and its differences between Indonesian culture and other foreign or foreign cultures, especially western cultures such as in America and English.

✓ Examples of Misunderstanding of A Culture:

     For example, understanding American and British culture. The United States in inviting someone as we know that, at the end of each invitation they often end their invitation by saying "come, if you want it", meaning come if you want. This means that Americans do not want to force someone to accept their invitation if the person they invite does not wish to attend the invitation it does not matter because this is meant according to their individual wishes whereas in England if we use words like that it will be considered impolite. because it is considered less appreciative of the guests who will be invited

✓ How to introduce yourself to people of different cultures :

     Introducing ourselves is very important in us when we want to adapt to a new environment. This is because we want to inform and provide information about ourselves so that later we can be known by the public. In making introductions we need to be polite and courteous so that we can be appreciated in a new environment and also don't get acquainted with a high tone, get used to using good and correct language

    Social Organization

    Social Organization is a form of regulation of individual actions or behavior to work together in achieving agreed goals. The example of the smallest social organization is the family.

    Customs and Traditions

   Each country and region must have different traditions. By recognizing traditions from other regions, this will reduce misunderstanding between people  They can be customs, tradition, rules, or written laws

    Religion

    It is a system that regulates the system of faith (belief) and worship of God. It's also an attitude and behavior that is obedient in carrying out the teachings of the religion he adheres to and always tolerates the implementation of worship adhered to by other religion and lives in harmony.

    Language

    Language is the cornerstone of culture. All culture have a spoken language. People who speak the same language often share the same culture.


    Arts and Literature

    They are the products of the human imagination. They help us pass on the culture's basic beliefs. The examples of Arts and literature are music, art, literature, and folk tales.

    Forms of Government

    People governments to provide for their common needs, keep order within society and protect their society from outside threats.
